News - How to Install Super Thin Marble Stone?

1. Adhesive Bonding (Interior walls, curving walls, feature walls; the most used approach)

Substrate options include concrete walls, gypsum board, OSB, existing tile, glass, and metal panels. The substrate must be flat, secure, dry, and free of loose dust or oil/grease. Surface flatness deviation must be less than 2mm, and any hollow spots must be corrected first.

Structural adhesive is recommended for interior applications. For big areas, apply glue to both surfaces (the substrate and the back of the stone); for small areas, spot or strip application is sufficient. Relying exclusively on normal "nail-free" glue is not suggested due to its poor durability.

2. Dry-hanging with composite backing (exterior or extra-high walls)

Because the super-thin stone is too thin for direct slotting and dry-hanging, it must first be glued to a backing panelsuch as an aluminum veneer or cement boardbefore proceeding with regular dry-hanging installation. This approach incurs additional expenditures.

1. Substrate preparation.

To prepare, remove dust and oil stains, correct pits and depressions with leveling plaster or mortar, use a bonding agent to reinforce loose wall surfaces, and ensure the substrate moisture content is 10% (for wet walls, use a moisture barrier beforehand).

2. Pre-Layout and Cutting

Dry-lay on the floor to examine grain patterns, color variations, and numbering, cover the stone face with masking tape to prevent adhesive overflow from staining. Adhesive Application.

3. Apply glue uniformly to both the back of the stone and the substrate.

Leave a 5-10mm margin from the panel edges free of adhesive to avoid squeeze-out, and keep the adhesive layer thickness at 1-2mm.

4. Wall Installation.

Install from the bottom up, ensuring horizontal alignment; immediately roll the surface with a rubber roller to expel all trapped air and prevent hollow spots, and wipe away any adhesive overflow immediatelydo not wait for it to dry and harden, as scraping it off later may scratch the stone.

5. Temporary Fixing and Curing

Masking tape may be used to temporarily bind big panels. The adhesive will set after 24 hours. Prevent water exposure or strong impact for 72 hours. Complete bond strength is attained after 7 days.

6. Joint Filling, Cleaning, and Protection.

Leave 1-3mm natural joints and fill with flexible joint sealant; after fully dry, use a stone protection sealer to avoid stains.
